Pediatric Gastroenterology Associates is a subspecialty practice established in August 2000. We provide compassionate, evidence-based, and best possible care and treatment for pediatric, adolescent and young adults who are suffering from gastrointestinal problems and liver diseases.

Pediatric Gastroenterology Associates has several offices located throughout Atlanta and its suburbs to better serve our patients and their families. We also admit to Atlanta's finest facilities for children such as Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) at Egleston and Scottish Rite, Fayette Community Hospital, Southern Regional Hospital, and Wellstar Hospitals in Kennestone and Cobb.

Dr. Ifeadike

Dr. Walter Ifeadike became board certified in Pediatric Gastroenterology in 1997. He is a clinical Assistant Professor in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition with the Department of Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine. He is actively involved in teaching, training, and mentoring medical students, Residents, and Pediatric GI fellows, at Children Healthcare at Egleston. Although an astute clinician, Dr. Ifeadike is also involved in clinical research with interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), Hepatobiliary disorders, and advances in complex endoscopic techniques. Dr. Ifeadike is foremost a clinician with keen interest in diagnosing complex and esoteric GI disorders. He is one of few Pediatric Gastroenterologists in the Atlanta area formally trained and mentored in advanced therapeutic endoscopy such as ERCP, stent placement and retrieval.

EDUCATION

Dr. Walter Ifeadike received his medical degree from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in June 1985. After a brief training in General Surgery at the University of Sokoto Teaching hospital in Sokoto, Nigeria, he relocated to the United States, where he completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York as the valedictorian of the Residency class of 1994. Dr. Ifeadike then completed a three-year post doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics, Emory school of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. He spent an additional year of advanced endoscopic training at Emory @ Crawfrod Long Hospital under the famed Atlanta Gastroenterologist Dr. Carter Davis , Dr. Steve Morris, and Dr. Norman Elliott of Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates.

He has since remained in private and academic practice and serves as lecturer and speaker for community physicians and health organizations.
